Villa Kore was born over forty years ago when the land in Yıldızburnu, Çeşme was bought as a symbol of a strong friendship and partnership between our father Hasan Ertenü and our uncle Ferda Kahraman.
At the time, Hasan and Ferda were exporting tobacco from the Aegean region of Turkey to South Korea. They were the first traders to ever export goods to South Korea from Turkey, and the name Villa Kore originally was given to the building to commemorate this fact. Years later, we’ve kept with tradition and named the hotel Villa Kore as well.
The first building was built in 1975 by Sadi Tugay, a reputable architect of the era. The single-family home was two feet from the coast and large enough to accommodate two sisters, one brother, their children, grandparents and grandchildren during the relaxing summer seasons.
In 2015, we finished renovating the original family home for the third and final time since 1975. In 2015, we also refined the private beachfront area and expanded the property to include a new, modern residence on the land where our olive and fig tree garden used to stand. The 41 trees in total were transported to a garden in Alaçatı. Today, we serve our guests across two adjacent buildings. This major renovation was managed by the oldest grandchild Onur Coskun.
Villa Kore has been a family tradition for more than forty years. We thank our friends, staff, cats and many supporters who have stood by us as we worked to open this amazing seaside getaway 🙂 But most of all, we wish to thank you, our valued guests, and hope to be serving you for many more years to come.
Warm regards
